I downloaded the
ethereal-setup-0.8.17.exe  from http://www.ethereal.com/distribution/win32/
which is the Win32 Binary Distribution. I have WinPcap installed correctly,
I know this because Analyzer
(http://netgroup-serv.polito.it/analyzer/install/default.htm) uses the same
drivers and works correctly.
When I fire up Ethereal the application appears to load correctly and all
buttons are functional. When I click <start> under Capture the machine reboots! I have not gotten any preference screen to pop up.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled Ethereal and looked for any option to specify the network card and have found nothing.
I am using WIN98SE with @home cable.
I have a NetLINE USB 10/100 ETHERNET ADAPTER made by Farallon
communications.
However winipcfg lists ADMtek AN 986 USB 10/100 Ethernet Adapter.
When I entered the first three bytes of my MAC address
(00-48-54)@http://standards.ieee.org/regauth/oui/index.shtml
 I get no answer.
 
Any advice would be appreciated :)
