In case Andy Hood's mail is also stuck due to name resolution problems
trying to look up "yamato.dachs-online.de", here's his response to you:

I think you will find there is a libsnmp.so.somethingorother - probably in
/usr/local/lib or /usr/lib.
Try adding libsnmp.so.0 as a symlink in the same directory and then running
ldconfig
Some broken versions of the ucd-snmp install didn't create this link.

Or alternatively, get the current version of net-snmp - the new name for
ucd-snmp - from http://sourceforge.net/projects/net-snmp and compile/install
it then "make clean;make" ethereal.
