I vaguely recall a problem such as this before - perhaps for the "Edit ->
Preferences -> Protocols" search? But I can't seem to find anything about it.
Does this ring a bell with anyone? In any case, I don't experience any typing
delay with the "Edit -> Preferences -> Protocols" search, so I'm not so sure
that this is a GTK "feature". Shouldn't they work the same? Thoughts?

Well, either way, there now appear to be two bugs. I am running on Windows XP
SP3 (32-bit) and experiencing the delay; Stuart is running on Windows 7 x86-64
and is not experiencing the typing delay. Stuart's bug appears to be that the
search doesn't work as he expects, according to comment 6, so I've changed the
subject again to reflect that and also the severity to an enhancement since the
search was never designed to work as he expects.

I'll open a new bug for the typing delay I'm experiencing, which is a separate
issue.
