Hi,

You can not see packets that are lost :)
With UDP there is no acknowledge sent by the receiver to tell that it
got the packet.
This is the case with TCP, where you can follow the sequence number and
acknowledge numbers.

Subject: [Ethereal-users] Logging of Dropped/Discarded packets

Is it possible to see the discarded IP/TCP/UDP packets using ethereal?

A brief description regarding the situation:

Ethereal shows that host has received the packet. But application
( udp based) doesn't receive the packets.
So I was wondering wheteher tcp/ip stack is discarding the packets. This
is why, I wanted to know if there is any method, using which one can see
the discarded packets.

Regards,
Rajnish
