I installed Ethereal 0.9.16 for True64 Unix 5.1, with the underlying operating system as Compaq True64 Unix 5.1 B, on Alpha Server DS10. But I can't see the Network Interface card. (However, I can use TCPdump without any problem.)

So presumably tcpdump was either capturing on the default interface, or was capturing on an interface you specified with the "-i" option.

If tcpdump was capturing on the default interface, it probably printed the name of the interface when it started capturing (in a "listening on" message). What happens if you tell Ethereal to capture on that same interface?

If you specified the interface to tcpdump with the "-i" option, what happens if you tell Ethereal to capture on the same interface?
