Have you enabled the personal firewall that comes with WinXP?
If so, try to disable it.
Do you have any other personal firewall installed? If so, try
to disable it.
How many bytes of the "short frames" are
captured?

Problem
I'm using Ethereal version 0.9.1 and WinPcap
version 2.3 beta on a Windows XP laptop using a Belkin FD5020 PCMCIA NIC
to connect to the network.
On all packets that are directly targeted to my
machine I can capture all of the frames that make up that packet. However,
with any packet that is not directly sent to my machine I get a short
frame error. This happens on all of the tools that I've been able to use so
far that use the WinPcap library.
Is this a common problem, and if so how do I go
about solving it?
