Greetings...

I am trying to use Ethereal (V0.8.17) on my Windows 2000 Server. If I
fire it up from the console, it works fine.

However, when I am connected via the RDP client:

1. Ethereal refuses to run at all, claiming:

Gdk-ERROR **: Palettized display (256-colour) mode not supported on
Windows. Aborting...

2. Tethereal, which runs fine on the console, gives me:

tethereal: The capture session could not be initiated (Error opening
adapter: The operation completed successfully.). Please check that you
have the proper interface specified.
