I'm looking to build a laptop, to use as a sniffer, which will run ethereal
on Linux. I usually order Dell PCs, and am looking at a Dell Inspiron 8000
fully loaded.

The network interface choices from dell are limited:

Xircom 10/100 Ethernet, PC card
10/100 +56K Compatible V.90/Modem, Internal Mini-PCI

(I am waiting of specific information on both of these cards from Dell)

I am able to select both of the above choices simultaneously, thus giving me
two Ethernet ports on the laptop. My question is will I be able to use
these (NICs) under Linux, with minimum effort (no kernel patching)? Where
might I find more information on this topic?
