Yes, although tcpdump appears to be even worse about it (I have to actually
/sbin/ifconfig eth1 down ; /sbin/ifconfig eth1 up after it dies).

With tcpdump, I can only capture about 100 packets (no expression - just
grab everything) before it dies.  After that, it appears the interface
itself is completely dead.

Does tcpdump exhibit the same behavior?
