It may be that either

	1) their cards don't support promiscuous mode (unlike,
	   apparently, at least some Lucent cards, as the FreeBSD and
	   Linux drivers for those cards will change some configuration
	   flag for the card if asked to go into promiscuous mode)

or

	2) their driver doesn't support promiscuous mode (even though
	   NDIS *does* support it).

You should probably check with Symbol Technology on this.
