Try getting a version of "libpcap" from http://hpux.csc.liv.ac.uk/ (or a mirror closer to you, if there is one), and try that (without the changes you made to Ethereal, and using "lan0", *NOT* "dlpi0" or whatever, as the capture device. (Try it with "tcpdump" as well.) If that doesn't work, try replacing it with the attached version of "pcap-dlpi.c", and tell us what it prints.
