GTK+ 1.2[.x] uses neither ATK nor Pango, so those libraries aren't being used and thus they could use a library that's not even present and it wouldn't make a difference.
I will look at the interface to the lan devices and see how that works.
You'll need either a pre-0.9 version of libpcap or the "Current tar files" version - 0.9.1 through 0.9.3 have bugs that can cause problems on HP-UX.
