I am currently working up a proposal that I'd like to use a tool like Ethereal
in. One of the things is that I need to be able to capture data off other
input types - typically RS422 and MIL-STD-1553B connections. In each case,
we're talking additional hardware.

I'm mainly interested in Linux or a *BSD as the host operating system.

If anyone has thought about this, or can comment on the best way (modify
libpcap? modify wiretap? another library? hack it into ethereal-proper?) to
approach this, I'd appreciate comments.

[ADV part] I may be in a position to fund this - also feel free to contact me
(of list, of course) with commercial concepts. I plan to have the code
contributed back to Ethereal.

Brad
