--gnu-me-harder options tend to get hairy quickly. queen's english v.
american english is one problem (--initialize-foo --initialise-foo),
confusing differences in 'layout' (was that --no-resolve or
--without-resolve or --resolve=no or --no-domain-lookup or
--domain-lookup=no...), etc.

i'd suggest holding off until its absolutely necessary. -o provides a
pretty powerful interface that can be used to avoid a lot longopts.
