Yes, I was thinking that I needed to install one of the UNIX word
processors that could handle Word documents at some point.

Yes, but moving my source directory off of my original disk to my newer
Big Disk solved them; I have a pile of Ethereal source directories, for
different projects, so that, when I check stuff in, I don't have to
worry about checking in more than the stuff I intend to check in. 
However, I was trying to keep from having too many of them, so as not to
run out of disk space, and, when I needed to use that particular tree
for some purposes other than the tvbuff stuff I was doing, I had to move
that stuff out of the way.
