That problem should now be fixed, with the checkins I just made.  (The
problem is that it needs to be defined in "aclocal.m4" in order for
"autoconf" to know about it, and, if you're using "automake" - or maybe
it's "autoheader" - "aclocal.m4" is generated from "acinclude.m4". 
Unfortunately, the former didn't define it, and the latter didn't exist.)
