The first and foremost thing is that you need to understand the networking
protocols.
If you understand those you can basically just start tinker with Wireshark and
view the good video's out there.
Both Laura and other put some great videos out there that cover the Wireshark
end.
But a solid understanding of IP, TCP, UDP, ..... is very, very, VERY
important.

If you need training courses then ... it is hard to judge which ones make
sense to you.
I was lucky enough to start with ethernet still being either thick or thin.
But if you have the discipline I think a good book on TCP/IP will be a better
investment for you.

Met vriendelijke groet / With kind regards,

Subject/topic: Which course should I pursue if I am aspiring to be an
International Cybersecurity Professional?
===============================================================================================================

Good afternoon from Singapore,

The time now is 8th November 2018 Thursday 3:50 PM Singapore Time GMT+8 UTC+8.

Which cybersecurity course should I pursue if I am aspiring to be an
International/World-Wide Cybersecurity Professional?

I have already graduated from the one-year part-time Diploma (Conversion) in
Computer Networking course at Singapore Polytechnic with four Distinctions and
an A grade in the year 2017. The curriculum is based on Cisco Certified
Network Associate (CCNA) Routing and Switching.

Presently, I am considering two cybersecurity professional courses being
offered.

[Course 1] Specialist Diploma in Network Security
School: Singapore Polytechnic, Singapore
Curriculum: Based on CCNA Security
Duration: One-Year Part Time, 2-3 evenings per week, 4 hours per evening
Course Fees: SGD$650 per academic year for a 40-year old Singapore citizen
with no savings and no property at all like me Course Link:

[Course 2] Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)
School: NTUC Learning Hub, Singapore
Curriculum: Based on CISSP
Duration: 5-day boot camp/crash course
Course Fees: SGD$300 ONLY for a 40-year old Singapore citizen with no savings
and no property at all like me Course Link:

[Course 3] National Infocomm Competency Framework - Cisco CCNA Security
School: NTUC Learning Hub, Singapore
Curriculum: Based on CCNA Security
Duration: 5-day boot camp/crash course
Course Fees: SGD$1800 (As a 40-year old Singapore Citizen and NUS university
graduate, I can't afford to pay SGD$1800 for this course) Course Link:

Which cybersecurity course should I take up first? Please advise.

I want to be an International/World-Wide Cybersecurity Professional.

Thank you very much.

PS. I am living in a Housing and Development Board (HDB) One-Room Rental Flat
for the Extremely Poor in Singapore although I am a Mechanical Engineering
(with Aerospace Electives) university graduate from the National University of
Singapore (NUS) in 2007.
