Hi Jeff

I´m not sure about the Linux but if you goint to have that computers
on all time you should install a very stable distribution, for example

32 bit
Slacware---this is the best but it is a litle difficult to install
Vector---this is like slacware but is easir to install

32 and 64 bits
Debian etch---is a very good choice without pay
Red hat Enterprise---is an excelent distrution but you have to pay
Cent Os ---is the free version of red hat enterprise but without support
Suse---is more stable than fedora

By the way I'm sure about that you have to pay attention
to the capacity of the hard disk overcoat if your net has a lot
of users, I realised captures of 240 seconds that
spend almost 3000MB, so pay attention to that.

I'm going to purchase a couple Linux laptops for the sole purpose of
capturing network traffic for long periods of time using Wireshark.  My
objective are first and foremost stability and second is ease of use.  What
Linux platform best supports these objectives?  I know Wireshark is
available for the Fedora Core 5 platform.  Is Wireshark available for either
the Fedora Core 6 or Ubuntu 7.04 platform?

Regards,

Jeff
