...or, if there's a *compelling* reason not to just go with 1.2.5, build 1.2.3 with a modified zlib.def that includes inflatePrime (which appears to have been added to zlib in release 1.2.2.4, which came out on 11 July 2005).  I don't know of a compelling reason not to just go with 1.2.5, though.
I tried to build with 1.2.5 some time back but it failed for some reason which I can't remember. So 
I don't think it'll work out of the box. I may have messed it up though :-)
