If I download the changed files would it be the same? Also, if I compile a custom dissector plugin, will it work with the official 1.0.5 version?

Hi,
wireshark up to version 1.0.5 is built with MSVC6. MSVC 2008 is not supported.

Get the trunk-1.0 svn repository. A patch to allow MSVC2008 building
was delivered after 1.0.5 branching.
