I notice the Ubuntu buildbot is also struggling.

I further notice that it's been failing its unit tests for some time. 
Does anybody know when this started?

Gerald, is there any scope for having buildbot failures alert us 
somehow? Ideally it could email anyone who's committed something since 
the last successful build, but it could email one of the lists. Having 
unit tests is a bit pointless if nobody notices when they fail.
