Ok, and that is what happens here too if it is enabled.  Disabling it
causes it to never show up, even if buttons won't fit.

This little project has brought that long time wish back to mind for me
as well.  I would love to customize the buttons shown and even drag and
drop them (I believe that's possible) to put them in a certain order
that I like.  The menuing system in Wireshark right now is kind of
difficult to alter since it is all hard-coded and icons are built into
the source code in the form of XPMs used as strings.  Maybe a major
overhaul is in order?  Somehow we would need to keep old GTK version
compatability though.
