Before I was enabling SSL and net-snmp:
./autogen.sh && ./configure --disable-gtk2 --with-net-snmp=/usr/local --with-ssl=/usr/local/ssl && make -j 12
Since I don't actually need those (just configured them since I have them) I stopped configuring them and now it's fine.
Weird. Really weird. I suppose I should go through the list of (especially linker) warnings generated to see if that lends a clue, but for now I'm just happy to have a working version. :-)
