I have written a extcap Plugin for proprietary capture hardware (which captures
Ethernet, CAN, FlexRay and LIN).

It was implemented during the first versions of extcap was added to wireshark
(using developer snapshots of wireshark 1.99).

The extcap plugin was used with alot of different wireshark version without
problems (wireshark 2.0.x, 2.1.x).
But since wireshark version 2.2.0 (also 2.2.1 and 2.2.2) it does not work
anymore.
Wireshark prints the following error message when we start capturing:

Error reading from pipe: This operation returned because the timeout period
expired. (error 1460).
See also screenshot in the attachment "error_msg.png"

The extcap utility may also be used stand-alone to write pcap files.
This also works flawlessly.
