Debian has your choice of 5.1, 5.2, and 5.3 in testing:

    https://packages.debian.org/testing/interpreters/

    https://packages.debian.org/testing/interpreters/lua5.3

but has only 5.1 and 5.2 in stable:

    https://packages.debian.org/stable/interpreters/

Ubuntu has 5.3 (along with 5.1 and 5.2) in Wily Wombat or whatever the heck
15.10 is called:

    http://packages.ubuntu.com/wily/interpreters/lua5.3

although Vivid Vervet has only 5.1 and 5.2.

I infer from

    https://software.opensuse.org/package/lua

that the "lua" package in OpenSUSE Leap 42.1 is 5.2; there's a liblua5_3:

    https://software.opensuse.org/package/liblua5_3

but I'm not seeing any Lua 5.3 package.

No obvious sign of 5.3 in Gentoo:

    https://packages.gentoo.org/packages/dev-lang/lua

No obvious sign of *Lua* in Slackware:

    http://packages.slackware.com

5.3.1 found in Arch Linux, which I think is a "rolling release" distribution:

    https://www.archlinux.org/packages/extra/i686/lua/

    https://www.archlinux.org/packages/extra/x86_64/lua/

The FreeBSD ports collection has 5.3 (along with 5.1 and 5.2):

    https://www.freebsd.org/ports/lang.html#lua53-5.3.1_1

as does the NetBSD package collection:

    http://ftp.netbsd.org/pub/pkgsrc/current/pkgsrc/lang/lua53/README.html
