Does Wireshark run OK without making dumpcap setuid?  (IOW one can always run
Wireshark as a normal user; special permissions are only needed for capturing.)

Can you get a backtrace from the crash?

% gdb wireshark
(gdb) run
# after the crash you'll end up at the gdb prompt again, then:
(gdb) bt full
