OK, so I'm at a loss.  This is what I did:

0) Open a capture with some TCP packets in it [with Wireshark 1.12.7]
1) Expand a TCP packet
2) Right-click on the destination port and select "Apply as column"
3) Sort based on this new column

I get an integer-based sort ordering.  For example, 4-digit port numbers (e.g.,
4868) come before 5-digit port numbers (e.g., 33553).
