Comment # 2 on bug 8820 from 
an additional remark: using these changes will make python a required part of
the Wireshark build process. I think from discussion on the Wireshark developer
mail list that we're agreed this is not an unreasonable requirement to have.

The plugin Makefiles currently contain a shell script solution to generate the
plugin.c file. If we go forward with requiring python for builds, we could
remove those sections from the plugin Makefiles and the shell script program to
generate plugin.c
