In re-reviewing this bug and in light of the current discussions [1] regarding
display filters, read filters, Wireshark's and TShark's -R option and tshark's
-2 option (and a possible new -Y option) I'm wondering if the correct fix for
this particular bug is to revert R43785?

The underlying problem is that currently "read filters" do not have the same
behavior as "display filters". The thread on Wireshark-dev [1] along with Bug
8316 [2], closed Bug 8392 [3] and closed Bug 380 [4] document or discuss some
of these issues.
