Does anyone know what the actual fix was and if so whether or not it was
backported (or scheduled to be backported) to the 1.8 branch? If so, then this
bug can be closed. If not, we might still need a capture file to figure out
which change fixed the problem so that it can be backported to 1.8. Otherwise,
it might be quite difficult to figure out which change within 44520 to 44881
did the trick.
