Hi Tyson
A correction, the Wireshark developers never "rejected" the patches, they were
never formally offered.
If you apply the patches as per the README to the approprate source tree of
Wireshark you will get a version of Wireshark with AX.25, NetROM, ...
The reason the patches were never offered is that there is an issue with the
implementation of AX.25 in Linux. The "AX.25" packet in Linux has an extra
byte at the beginning, this in _not_ in the AX.25 spec and needs to be handled
correctly, i.e. the AX.25 dissector must not see it. In the patches mentioned
above the extra byte is _not_ handled correctly, the correct handling is only
partially there. I was not going to offer the patches until I had resolved the
issue.
Since I uploaded those patches life has become difficult, also I am no longer
able to test as I do not have an active AX.25 system. I will endevour to
document where my efforts have got to and what I saw the next steps being and
post that to this record so others can, hopefully, take the project onward.
Regards
Richard (G1SOG)
