The crash is probably due to the same problem that shows up in bug 6089 and its
duplicates - at least on Windows, attempts to copy text containing 8-bit bytes
causes a crash in GTK+.
In this particular case, the text in question is bad, because the error message
buffer isn't getting filled in; that's what needs to be fixed here. The GTK+
crash might be a bug in GTK+-for-WIndows.
