With revision 31754 the following should be addressed:

I get the time...

Could you run the profiling again to se if there is any changes?

If file loading time is affected (slower) try to comment out 
"get model" and associated code in packet_list_store and new_packetlist
I wouldn't have expected a large performance hit thre but who knows.
