I was running Wireshark from build directory, as an ordinary user. If I 
set .libs/dumpcap SUID-root, indeed there is a default interface 
selected (eth0). However, if I remove the text from that combobox, it 
still segfaults.

I think that may be dependent on the GTK version being used (whether it 
returns NULL for textboxes which do not contain any text). I am using 
2.16.4.
