Neal,

The "[XXX bytes missing]" messages are inserted in the follow TCP stream output
whenever there are packets missing in the tracefile. When the packets were on
the wire, but not in the tracefile, there will be no retransmission and follow
TCP stream would get stuck (see bug 592).

In this fix however, a new bug was introduced, see
http://www.wireshark.org/lists/wireshark-users/200805/msg00104.html which was
fixed in http://anonsvn.wireshark.org/viewvc/index.py?view=rev&revision=25289 .

So, if there is really a packet missing in your tracefile, this message is a
feature, not a bug. If the data is indeed in your tracefile, could you please
download a development build (http://www.wireshark.org/download/automated/) to
see whether you still see this error?

Cheers,
    Sake
