The empty error box was fixed in bug 1377.  It will be fixed in the next
release or you can pick up one of the buildbot builds if you want to try it out
before then.

This has nothing to do with not being able to capture on the interface--see the
Wiki section on capturing setup about that (capturing on wireless interfaces
isn't always easy, at least on Windows).
