Hi,
There's nothing wrong with the name Ethereal, it's just a legal thing
which prevents Gerald from continuing using it when he changed his job.
Since he liked to keep working on the software he restarted the project
under a new name and invited all core developer over.
So basically Ethereal continues as Wireshark, that's all the difference
there is.
BTW: What the current owner of the Ethereal trademark is going to do with
this valuable asset (the name of fame) is unknown, all developers have
left. The archives and mailing list are still up, but struggling in my
perception.
