Actually, I kept on downloading, even from different sites. Every (try to) installation struggle's with the same error:
I rephrase the error message in detail:
"---------------------------
NSIS Error
---------------------------
The installer you are trying to use is corrupted or incomplete.
This could be the result of a damaged disk, a failed download or a virus.

You may want to contact the author of this installer to obtain a new copy.

It may be possible to skip this check using the /NCRC command line switch
(NOT RECOMMENDED).
"
I really wonder what is going on. I could install the same version on my old win32 system which is running Win XP Pro SP1.

Regards,

Michel

Hello,

When trying to install ethereal i get the following NSIS message: The installer you try to use might be corrupt or incomplete.

I try to install it on my XP Pro SP2 (64- bit) . Is the failure due to the 64 bit Operating System? And how can I find a workaround?

No, it's exactly as it told you: the installer is corrupt. Try to download it again.
