Hey guys,

libXrender -> libXft -> Xft -> Pango -> (ATK along with all its dependencies) -> GDK+ -> Ethereal

That is the dependency that I am working with. This is frustrating but kinda fun trying to make it all click together.

Right now I am trying to get libXrender installed so I can move through the dependency tree.

This is the error that I am having with the ./configure:

checking for pkg-config... /usr/local/bin/pkg-config
checking pkg-config is at least version 0.9.0... yes
checking for X_CFLAGS...
checking for X_LIBS...
checking for X... no
configure: error: X is required, but it was either disabled or not found.

So what I try to do is manually point the configure script to the X11 directory with this command:

[root@LinuxBed libXrender-0.9.0]# ./configure X_CFLAGS=/usr/X11R6 X_LIBS=/usr/X1 1R6 RENDER_LIBS=/usr/X11R6 --x-libraries=/usr/X11R6/lib --x-includes=/usr/X11R6

configure: error: Package requirements (render >= 0.9) were not met.
Consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if you
installed software in a non-standard prefix.

Alternatively you may set the RENDER_CFLAGS and RENDER_LIBS environment variables
to avoid the need to call pkg-config.  See the pkg-config man page for
more details.

Here is the config.log File:

This file contains any messages produced by compilers while
running configure, to aid debugging if configure makes a mistake.

It was created by libXrender configure 0.9.0, which was
generated by GNU Autoconf 2.59.  Invocation command line was

  $ ./configure X_CFLAGS=/usr/X11R6 X_LIBS=/usr/X11R6 RENDER_LIBS=/usr/X11R6 --x-libraries=/usr/X11R6/lib --x-includes=/usr/X11R6

Package render was not found in the pkg-config search path.
Perhaps you should add the directory containing `render.pc'
to the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable
No package 'render' found
configure:20766: error: Package requirements (render >= 0.9) were not met.
