Hello,

I was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction....I
need to develop a real time voip traffic monitoring application. So
basically I want Ethereal to filter the rtp traffic and then pass the
jitter, delay and packet loss statistics to my application in real
time...

What I'm confused about is this...I know I can start an ethereal
capture with an rtp filter and after I press stop, analyse the QoS
statistics...But is there some way to start an ethereal capture and
without stopping the capture (i.e. real time) filter out QoS
statistics every 5 seconds or so?....Would tethereal be useful for
this if its possible? (and am I correct in thinking tethereal is a
command line version of ethereal?)
Yes, tethereal is the command line version of Ethereal.

I don't know much of RTP, but beware about the Monitoring section of http://wiki.ethereal.com/NetworkTroubleshooting/Overview

Basically, (T)Ethereal will run out of memory if running "too long".
