Windows+wireless -> not much fun in promiscuous mode, except with network analyzer software whose vendor has written their own driver for the network cards:

I don't know whether there are any developers who've written better Windows wireless card drivers that work with WinPcap; there might not be any. 

{Linux,FreeBSD,NetBSD}+wireless might work better.
