Hi,
 
I have used ethereal to sniff my network. It has a troughput of around 0.77 Mbps for a duration of 30 mins. The size of the file was about 180MBytes. I noticed that there were some packets which were captured on one site (the destination) but were not captured by the source. This indicates that the packets were dropped by Ethereal. Does Ethereal have any recommended system requirements (RAM, processor speeds and NIC)? Moreover, is the size of the RAM dependent on the size of the file being captured?
