Dear all,

is there somebody that can take care of this info from Intel support ?

I noticed that nearly all Intel Wireless adapters, and for sure Centrino based, are not correctly handled by Ethereal/Winpcap and many users report them as not working.

RE: Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 2100 3B Network Connection - General Inquiry

Hello Simone,

Thank you for contacting Intel(R) Technical Support.

Please note that the drivers for all Intel(R) wireless adapters allow for promiscuous mode enabling but it is not an option that the user can set.  The call to set into promiscuous or sniffing mode must be made by the software that requires this mode - eg the sniffer, management monitor, or other application.  The call is made and the Intel driver will respond by placing the adapter(s) into promiscuous mode as needed.

Sincerely,

Rudy B.

Dear all,

I would like to understand if I can use this wireless built-in card, Intel pro/wireless LAN 2100 3B MiniPci for sniffing a wireless network.

As network admin, system integrator and consultant I need to help my customers identify asap the issues they are experiencing...

I can not find any wireless sniffer that handle this card, maybe there is a new driver, new bios/firmware and something you can tell me to achive this...

Thank you in advance,

Simone
