I can only get tcp/udp and eth to turn the filter window green and when I
add the remaing characters in the syntax as documented. The filter window
turns red.

Capture filters or display filters?  Most likely you are using the syntax of
one for the other.

Give an example of what doesn't work, and why it doesn't work (syntax error,
not the results you wanted, etc.).
