Hi there,

 

as a netwrok-technican, I use ethereal to sniff some packets of the dhcp-protocol to locate a failure in our

network. But when i start a capture, there are no dhcp-packts in the flow, but they have to be there.

The Traffic on the mirrorport, i am sniffing from, seems to rise up to 40mbit/s which means

about 4 mio packets/s. Is it possible, that Ethereal can´t handle this summ of traffic for capture ALL packets?

My networkcard is 100MBit/s, the ethernet port i am sniffing from is also 100mbit/s.

 

It would be very nice to get a feedback for my request, as soon as possible.

This problem is HOT to me… L
