Hi all,

I noticed today that the Follow TCP Stream pop up window (the one
displaying the payload of a TCP/IP conversation) is behaving differently
in 10.6 than in older versions (don't recall the exact version I used
this successfully):

- Previously, the "Save as" functionality would save the payload "as is"
if you were looking at it using the default ASCII view (as opposed to
"as shown"). What I mean is: unprintable characters (for example the
0x1B sequence) would be displayed as a dot ("."), but would be saved as
the original 0x1B

- The current version (also 0.10.5 by the way) saves the unprintable
characters "as shown", i. e. the same 0x1B from the example above is
saved as 0x2E

This is unfortunate since it takes away the possibility to save the raw
content of the conversation or from one of the partners (very useful,
for example, when you want to extract a printer job from a customer's
trace for troubleshooting purposes).

What are your thoughts about this? Any chance of going back to the old
functionality in future versions?

Using
Ethereal 0.10.6
Win XP Pro

Thanks in advance,

Cristian.
