Did you choose GTK2 or the legacy GTK1 version of ethereal 0.10.6?

Did you install GTK-Wimp?

Did you uninstall the old Ethereal before installing ethereal 0.10.6?

Uninstalling Ethereal first may help.

We installed the standard package except for GTK1 and GTK-Wimp after uninstalling all previous versions. Thus we were using GTK-2 (which was checked but greyed out). My peer and I both installed this program the same way - his Toshiba Tecra 8100 crashed, my 9000 didn't. However, 0.10.5 works on his PC.
