Duh! I wasn’t hitting save, I was hitting apply. I uninstalled 10.4, re-installed 10.5a, made the changes, and hit ”save”. It’s working fine.

Sorry for wasting everyone’s time.

Have a good day

Since things are going well (with 0.10.4) I wouldn’t recommend doing this but if someone else wants to…. You said below that you clicked APPLY then OK.  Did you click SAVE after APPLY and before OK?  Has anyone tried this combo besides myself on either XP or Win2K?

I am running Win2K, SP4. I made the changes outlined in the posts you mentioned, but the changes wouldn’t “stick”. Even after clicking apply (like times), clicked ok, then closed and re launched the app, the box was unchecked. I tried it several times. So I uninstalled and installed 10.4, it has been working great all morning.

Thanks

Eric,

What OS are you running?  I’m on XP-Pro and Ethereal 0.10.5 and haven’t had any problems since making those changes.  Guy also mention in a previous post about having a previous version and the effects it would have.

I have the same problem. The fix listed in the archive is to go edit->preferences-> and check ”save window position”, click apply and ok. It seemed to work for others, however, every time I restart Ethereal, it gives me the error. When I go back to see if the box is still checked, it isn’t, it keeps defaulting back to unchecked. I am going to try 10.4

I downloaded both versions: 0.10.5 and 0.10.5a. I installed each one and I get the following error: (please look at the file attached)-
