You probably *do* have an existing X11 installation, if, when Panther
was installed on your machine, you requested that X11 be installed - X11
comes with Panther.

You should ask the Fink people to produce packages for Panther that
don't require X11; the Mac OS X11 is probably the one most people should
be using.
