Are
the SIP messages running on the registered SIP port? If not, select a SIP packet
from your capture, right-click on it and choose "Decode As", then choose the
port from the pull-down menu, and choose SIP for it.
Is the
SIP protocol version "SIP/2.0"? If not, then you need the new SIP dissector as
from yesterday. It contains a SIP preference that allows to disable strict
"SIP/2.0" version matching. If you can't build Ethereal from the sources or you
can't wait for the next official Ethereal release, feel free to send me the
capture and I'll reply with the decoded output.

Hello,
I am using the latest version of
ethereal 0.10.0 and I am trying to capture SIP messages from an IP phone. I
have a Cisco ATA which is connected to a LAN thru a hub to which my computer
is also connected. I start ethereal and switch on the ATA. But when I stop the
packet capture after some time, I do not see a single SIP message. I do get a
dial tone in the ATA though. Is there anything that I am missing
here?
Thanks
Santosh
